Is your child a Bourne Musician?
At Bourne Musicians we offer a fun and informal introduction to music for children aged 9 months to 3 years old. We are based in Hollingbourne, near Maidstone, Kent.

Children respond to music even when in the womb, and it is our goal at Bourne Musicians to encourage and nurture the musician in every child. Each child's understanding and enjoyment of music is developed through activities that bring together the six key elements outlined by the National Curriculum: *Singing *Playing
*Listening
*Composing
*Performing
*Musical notation
Children are divided into two classes dependant on age:
Minims - Ages 9 months to 2 years
Semibreves - Ages 2 to 3 years+

Minims
Musical games and action songs are used to help the children and parents/carers develop their musical confidence. The use of percussion instruments introduces rhythm and notation concepts. Children are also encouraged to listen to different music genres and learn basic instrument recognition. Dancing and movement are also explored with the use of circle dances, ryhmes and musical games.
Semibreves
In slightly more structured classes both adults and children put into practice the musical skills they have learned. In addition to musical games and songs, a new theme is explored each week, i.e. Going to the beach/park/zoo. New musical concepts are introduced: Loud and quiet, fast and slow, high and low, long and short.
